DSITE Fundraiding for Victims of Louisiana Flooding

posted in: Philanthropic 0

The Deep South Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (DSITE) is committed to supporting those who are recovering from the devastating August flooding. Across southern Louisiana, there are tens of thousands of people who have been displaced or whose homes suffered significant damage, including some DSITE members, their families, and/or their friends. Many people in and around Baton Rouge lost everything they had and will be away from their homes for months, if not longer. With the holidays just around the corner, charitable organizations will become even more taxed and spread thin. From all accounts, this will be a long recovery, on the magnitude of the recovery after Hurricane Katrina.

The DSITE Board has met and discussed this campaign at length, and we resolved to collect money to support the mission of the Salvation Army during this flood recovery. The Salvation Army in Baton Rouge sustained damage to its warehouse during the flood and continues to endure the hardship of supporting so many people that are currently in need.

To donate and participate in this campaign, please use the link to our GoFundMe campaign: https://www.gofundme.com/2j7qwj24.

We anticipate this campaign will last until the end of the year or early into 2017. Depending on the funding in the account, we may draw down the account around Thanksgiving or between Thanksgiving and Christmas to support the Salvation Army during its busiest times. Every dollar that is raised through this campaign will be given to the Salvation Army.

This is a chance for members and friends of DSITE to effect a change in our communities and help those who are in desperate need of help. We appreciate your consideration to give to this cause.
