The Southern District of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (SDITE) is one of ten regional subdivisions of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). ITE is an international educational and scientific association of transportation professionals who are responsible for meeting mobility and safety needs. ITE facilitates the application of technology and scientific principles to research, planning, functional design, implementation, operation, policy development and management for any mode of transportation. Founded in 1930, ITE is a community of transportation professionals acting as a source for expertise, knowledge and ideas. ITE is a gateway to knowledge and advancement through meetings, seminars and publications and its network of nearly 17,000 members working in more than 92 countries.
Formed in 1953 as the Southern Section, SDITE now has over 1,500 members and represents nine Southeastern States (Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia). |
