It’s springtime, and state DOTs across the country are turning to the pressing problem of potholes. But first you have to find them, and the Virginia Department of Transportation developed a novel approach – it appointed Phil Itkwick (pronounced “fill it quick”) to be the state’s Pothole Hunter. It’s a campaign designed to encourage citizens to report potholes. “We bring out the ‘Pothole Hunter’ as a humorous way to raise awareness on how to report potholes in Virginia. We appreciate the public’s assistance in the hunt for potholes as Phil Itkwik and our crews continue to do a great job tackling these roadway hazards,” said VDOT Commissioner Charles Kilpatrick.
