SDITE/ITE 2020 Annual Meeting Update

posted in: Uncategorized 0

ITE recently announced their decision to change the 2020 annual meeting to a virtual meeting. Consequently, we will NOT be meeting in New Orleans. More information about what this change means for SDITE will be coming in the next few weeks. The Executive Committee will meet early next week to discuss our SDITE Board Meeting, Business Meeting, Awards presentations, and several other items that pertain specifically to our District.

If you made hotel reservations for the meeting, please cancel them now.

Below is additional information from ITE:

On behalf of the ITE Board of Direction and the Southern District Local Arrangements Committee, I am announcing the decision to transition the Joint ITE International and Southern District Annual Meeting and Exhibition from an in-person meeting to an online, virtual conference. We are excited to be bringing this showcase event to our members and look forward to your participation! I would like to express our deepest appreciation to the Southern District Local Arrangement Committee for their efforts in collaborating with us and look forward to returning to New Orleans in the future.

The online ITE 2020 Annual Meeting and Exhibition (#ITE2020) has been designed with our members in mind. We have put together a strong, rich, and relevant program with thought-provoking plenary sessions and technical presentations covering emerging technologies and trends from across the transportation industry. This conference will also help you understand the impacts of COVID-19 and how to respond to these changes.

In addition, we have timed this conference to allow you to manage on-going work responsibilities while still taking advantage of this great learning opportunity. The program begins at 11:00 a.m. EDT each day and is spaced out 3 days a week, over a 3-week period.

Here is the schedule:

  • Tuesday, August 4–Thursday, August 6: Plenary and Technical Sessions, Poster Presentations
  • Tuesday, August 11–Thursday, August 13: Plenary and Technical Sessions, Poster Presentations, Workshops
  • Tuesday, August 18–Thursday, August 20: ITE Council and Committee Meetings

We look forward to a robust Exhibitor Showcase with organizations offering a wide variety of solutions to help transportation professionals do their jobs more productively and efficiently and better serve their customers. Each exhibitor will have a virtual presence on our conference platform where they will share videos, presentations, and other resources. In addition, exhibitors will be holding interactive sessions where you can ask questions and discuss their offerings. All ITE members will have access to these exhibitors and I strongly encourage you – whether you register for the conference or not – to explore the showcase, interact with exhibitors, and show the same level of support they are demonstrating to our industry.

We are bringing all of this to you with low registration fees, including a discounted early bird rate of $199 for ITE members until July 1. We have additional group discounts for public agencies and the flexibility to register for a day, a week, or the entire conference. Registrants will be able to access the recordings of any sessions you are unable to attend. Registration opens June 1.

More information will be available in this afternoon’s ITE Spotlite and is currently available on ITE 2020 Annual Meeting and Exhibition.

We look forward to “seeing” you this August. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me.
